First graders at Soldier Hollow have been busy studying about communities. As a culminating activity we went out in our own community and visited several of the important places for our citizens. First, we went Ridley’s Market and learned about all the different departments and how they provide so many things our families need every day.
Our next stop was the Heber Fire Department. We learned a lot of very important safety information and how we can keep our homes safe. We also learned how all families should make plans, like where to meet, in case they have a fire in their homes.
Next, we went the Wasatch Wave and learned how they gather the news around the area and put it together to create a newspaper that keeps everyone up to date. We even got to watch the press in action.
After lunch and playing at the Heber Park we went to the Wasatch County Library. It was amazing to see all the books they have that we can check out, take home, and read. We love to read so the library is a great place to have close by.
Heber Valley has great services for their citizens and we enjoyed visiting several of them and learning more about our community.
