2nd Grades Turkeys On Strike

Each November, our second graders perform the musical Turkeys On Strike.  The students performance was spectacular, as the cranberries and squash take center stage on the dinner table, while the football spectators and public try to convince the turkeys not to be on strike.

1st Grader’s Community Field Trip

First graders at Soldier Hollow have been busy studying about communities.  As a culminating activity we went out in our own community and visited several of the important places for our citizens.   First, we went Ridley’s Market and learned about all the different departments and how they provide so many things our families need every day. Our next stop was the Heber Fire Department.  We learned a lot of very important safety information and how we can keep our …

The Leaves Are Falling

Falling leaves are beautiful to look at and fun to play in, but did you know you can make creative characters out of them also?  4th grade has decorated their halls with leaves from our area and made a very creative collage with them.

Farmers Markets

Our weekly Farmers Markets are in the Charleston Park.  Thank you Charleston for allowing us to have this special place for our students to learn beginning entrepreneurial skills.  Students must grow or create their own product to sell.  We have seen many interesting items for sale this year:  pumpkins, cupcakes, rice bowls, soup, framed artwork, caramel apples, jewelry, chocolate covered berries, halloween crafts, warm and cold drinks, hot dogs lunches and much more.  Students market their products and keep their …

Lego Math

Many students are visual learners and have an easier time grasping mathematical concepts when they can see them demonstrated in a visually compelling way. For younger mathematicians, composing and decomposing numbers is a key component of building the …

The Halls Are Alive With Entertainment

Two wonderful performers visited us this week and put on a show for our students.  The first was Peter Pan, where students dressed as Pirates, Wendy and Peter Pan and the play was acted out in our hallway.  The second visit was Miss Sally, who entertained the students endlessly with her stories and imagination.  Thank you so much for adding great experiences to our curriculum.
