Weather Show-1st and 2nd Grade

Teton Science School

The 6th graders at Soldier Hollow Charter School spent a week in May in Wyoming at the Teton Science School.  Students rode a bus to the campus on Monday and returned Thursday evening and stayed in cabins at the Kelly, Wyoming campus.   The Teton Science School has three main pillars: connection to place, field science, and leadership building through team building challenges.  The week’s daily themes and activities focused on these pillars.  The first full day’s theme was art …

4th Grade Tours Moab

Moab was the classroom for the fourth graders last week. The students were introduced to the life and accomplishments of John Wesley Powell at the John Wesley Powell Museum in Green River, Utah. After that, they continued to Moab where they hiked a rare perennial stream along the Colorado River. The second day of the trip was spent discovering the wonders of Arches National Park led by expert guides from the Canyonlands Field Institute of Moab.  Each student kept a …

5th Grade Goes to Bullfrog

The last two weeks have been full of adventure, experiential learning, and fantastic fun for the fifth and fourth graders of Soldier Hollow. Fifth grade went to Bullfrog as the culmination of their landforms unit. They started off in Goblin Valley hiking through caves and admiring the “goblins.” The students were able to see various landforms throughout Lake Powell as well as the Strike Valley Overlook, which gave an amazing view of a 100 mile fault line. Experiential Learning

After several weeks of studying ecosystems in science, third graders at Soldier Hollow Charter School will complete the unit by taking three different field trips. Our first field trip took us to the Loveland Living Planet Aquarium where students were able to explore aquatic ecosystems. One of the highlights for the students was petting the stingrays. Annual Talent Show

Spring is in the air at Soldier Hollow!  The many talented students of Soldier Hollow came out to the second annual talent show at the Senior Center.  It was a fun evening for all who attended. Kindergarten Visits Fire Station

There are many important people and jobs that we take for granted every day that help keep our community safe and running smoothly. Our kindergarten students learned about a couple of these jobs when they visited the Wasatch County Fire Station and the Wasatch County Sheriff’s Office.
