First Days of School

Everyone seemed to enjoy themselves and it was exciting to observe all of the team building, placed based learning and STEM activities that were engaging students throughout the campus. Dare to compare any staff that could take our core curriculum and integrate the great outdoors to make learning so relevant. First Day Assembly

Our students and staff enjoyed a morning assembly on the first day of school.  Teachers performed a synchronized swim for students and parents, which left everyone laughing.  What a fun way to begin our school year.

Open Registration

Open registration is Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday, August 14-16 from 12-6 PM.  Please come to the school to finalize enrollment paperwork, speak with our PTO president, ask any questions you may have and check your childs class for this year.  Teachers will not be present during open registration.   Our back to school night is scheduled for Tuesday, September 12.

School Begins September 6

  What a wonderful summer we are having.  Our new school on  3444 W  3000 S in Charleston is coming along nicely and we are excited to own our own facility and offer a 10 acre indoor and outdoor classroom for our students.  Following the place-based philosophy, we spent 16 years giving our roots a chance to grow deep and strong and now building a beautiful 43,000 sf facility on 10 acres, demonstrates the fruits of many parents, staff and students …

Kite Day

Building kites requires patience, especially when they are built from four tetrahedral shapes. Some students were able to build their own, some students had to find a partner and make it a team effort. They were very happy to test them and see they really fly well, even if there is no wind. Wheel Day at SHCS

SHCS allows wheels at school.  Students spend recess on roller blades, scooters and bicycles, but the best day of wheels is at the end of the school year when we have Wheel Day.

6th Grade Spent the Week in the Tetons

The 6th graders at Soldier Hollow Charter School spent last week in Teton, Wyoming at the Teton Science School.  Students rode a bus to the campus on Tuesday and returned Friday evening.  Students stayed in cabins at the Kelly, Wyoming campus. The Teton Science School has three main pillars: connection to place, field science, and leadership building through team building challenges.  The week’s daily themes and activities focused on these pillars.  The first full day’s theme was mapping and GPS. …

5th Grades Heads to Bullfrog

  5th grade students at Soldier Hollow Charter School went to Bullfrog, UT last week. Students started off their journey in Goblin Valley where they discussed the different types of erosion needed to create the goblins. They hiked the Caramel Canyon Trail and saw a variety of plants and animals native to the area.   On the second day students participated in a 6 mile hike to the Strike Valley Overlook. 4th Grade Trip to Moab

For the twelfth year in a row, Moab was the classroom for the 4th graders last week. The students worked hard all year in academics and behavior with one of the ultimate goals to show their readiness for this big annual trip for Soldier Hollow’s 4th grade.
