Mystery Readers Visit Soldier Hollow

Mrs. Christensen’s second grade class had mystery readers come visit and tell special stories this past month instead of teacher read aloud. Parents, grand parents, brothers, sisters and special friends were part of the mystery reader pool.  The students were very excited to guess who would be coming each day. Olympic Teams Begin

Wednesday, January 25th was our first Olympic team meetings.  Team Norway shared pictures of their first of five meetings.  These teams will meet for five weeks, learn about the culture of their country, the music, the traditions, food and more.  This culminates in our Cultural Day on March 2nd where they will visit other countries and learn about their traditions, in addition to sharing their own.  Friday, March 3, we will celebrate our Soldier Hollow Charter School Olympics.

Biathlon Begins

Oh, was it cold for our first morning of biathlon.  The students did VERY well and nary a complaint.  Some were out for only a few minutes while they learned the techniques, practiced and then came in to the school.  Others, like our second graders, created their own fun, as it had warmed a bit, by entertaining themselves with Duck, Duck, Goose while classmates learned new techniques.

New School, New Opportunities

There are a number of exhilarating things happening at Soldier Hollow Charter School. We have recently been approved to break ground on our new school site by the end of January. The school will be located along 3000 South in Charleston, with Patriot Construction as our builder. Included will be exciting additions such as a 1-acre garden, indoor play area, and three outdoor classrooms so students can learn about the environment while gaining firsthand experience. The Hills Are Alive With Skiers

​We were welcomed back from break with a vivid winter wonderland.  Soldier Hollow is alive with winter activities.  This week, our students enjoyed cross country skiing, building snow forts and creating works of art in this beautiful frozen landscape that we are privileged to call home at Soldier Hollow Charter School.  Skiing is part of our physical education program and students ski twice a week until March, under the guidance of instructors who instill the love of the out of …

Engaging Learning Experiences

    LEGO® bricks are naturally engaging to elementary students. Second graders are introduced to LEGO bricks in their learning environment and boost motivation.
