Hello! My name is Ashley Jarrett, and I am excited to be joining the Soldier Hollow Charter School community this coming school year. I was born in Salt Lake City and spent the majority of my childhood in South Jordan, Utah. After my passion for musical theatre took me on a journey around the world, I moved to Northern California where I received my Bachelor’s Degree in Theatre Arts from Sonoma State University and my teaching credential from North Coast School of Education.
Four years ago, I began my work as an instructional aide at a small charter school in California. Within the first months of teaching, I knew two things: working with children is amazing, and a great new life adventure had begun. For the past two years I have been the classroom teacher for a 4th and 5th grade combination class and it has been a wonderful and transformative experience!
I am happy to be coming back home to Utah and pleased that I will be able to spend more time with my family--especially my nieces and nephews! I look forward to discovering places to run and hike, play my ukulele, and finding those special spots that make Heber unique.
Mostly, I look forward to getting to know your students and our school community. W.B. Yeats stated, “Education is not the filling of a pail, but the lighting of a fire.” I can’t wait to learn about your students’ passions and interests and help to keep their flames alive!
